Through Claudio Pastor, director of the DANTE ALIGHIERI Society in
Miami, Florida, I have had the privilege to visit the region of Abruzzo, Italy,
and to become friends with his family there. One of Claudio's cousins,
Architect Vincenzo Daniele, kindly commissioned me to paint the two color
works below, closely associated with his family history.

On April 6, 2009, a 6.9 scale earthquake devastated the region of Abruzzo,
especially its capital city of L'Aquila, destroying or seriously damaging
many beloved monuments. Below are some pen&ink drawings inspired in me
by this sad event.
